A.J. Anderson enters his fifth season on the Saint Francis football coaching staff, and his first year working with the defensive line after overseeing the development of the Red Flash linebackers. He also serves as the team’ s recruiting coordinator, equipment manager and travel coordinator.
Anderson’s players had a breakthrough year in 2006 with three of the top five tacklers on the team coming from the linebacker position. Fehi Sevelo was second on the team, and 19th in the NEC, with 66 tackles, while leading the squad in sacks with five. Louis Beninato was fourth in tackles (38), and tied for second in sacks (3), and Marcus Hutton was fifth in tackles (37), while adding four tackles-for-loss. All three players are back in 2007, but Sevelo will make the move to defensive end for his senior campaign.
In his first season coaching the linebackers, Anderson aided Beninato in finishing second on the team with 73 tackles, which was good for 15th in the Northeast Conference. Sevelo finish third on the team with 70 tackles, Michael Craig was fifth with 62 tackles and Sean McCune posted 39 tackles in 2005 under the guidance of Anderson. Craig will assist Anderson with the linebackers for the second season.
A four-year starter at Lock Haven University, Anderson arrived at Saint Francis after serving as recruiting coordinator and running backs coach at Albright College.
