Saint Francis Falls in Season-Opening Loss to Georgetown
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Aug. 31, 2007) – The Saint Francis University field hockey team fell to Georgetown, 4-1, at the University of Maryland on Friday to open their 2007 schedule.
The Red Flash kept the score close for much of the contest, entering the half trailing the Hoyas by only one score. This was mostly due to a superlative effort in goal by Erin Reifsteck, who made 14 saves.
Junior Belen Albanes registered the only goal for the Flash, notching her first of the season at the 57:55 mark of the second half. Albanes sliced through the Georgetown defense to tally the unassisted score, the team’s first of the 2007 campaign.
Saint Francis opens its home slate on Sept. 2 at DeGol Field against Drexel in a noon game.
