LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 21, 2007) – Four Saint Francis players recorded double-digits in kills, and freshman Alexa Ebert (Titusville, Pa. / Titusville) posted a career high 47 assists, to lead the Red Flash women’s volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Coppin State in Day 1 action at the Red Flash Invitational.

Ebert had perhaps the best day of her young career as she posted a then-career high 36 assists in Saint Francis’ first match of the day, a 30-25, 30-16, 30-24 win over Howard. She then bested that performance with 47 assists, 4 kills and 3 service aces in the 30-21, 30-23, 26-30, 30-14 nightcap win over Coppin State.

The Red Flash snapped a four-match losing streak by winning two on the day to improve to 3-10 overall. Day 2 of the Red Flash Invitational begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Coppin State facing Howard. Saint Francis will then play a non-conference match against in-state Northeast Conference-foe Robert Morris at 12:30 p.m., and the Colonials will close out the tournament with a match against Coppin State at 2:30 p.m.

In the match against Howard, sophomore Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, Pa. / Pennsbury) had a match-high 11 kills to go with 2 aces and 10 digs. The Red Flash had 10 blocks in the match compared to just one for the Bison.

Freshman Rachel Capizzi (Saint Louis, Mo. / Mehlville) hit .625 with 15 kills and no errors on 24 swings against Coppin State. Her 15 kills and .625 hitting percentage are the highest of any SFU player in any single match this season.
