Red Flash Women’s Volleyball Clipped By Robert Morris

LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 22, 2007) – Sophomore Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, Pa. / Pennsbury) and junior Kristin Buter (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) had 12 kills each, but the Saint Francis women’s volleyball team dropped a close 3-0 decision against Robert Morris in its final match of the Red Flash Invitational at DeGol Arena.

 

The Colonials got 14 kills from Amanda Graham, and 12 from Emily Wolthuis to win the match 30-24, 30-28, 30-28. They also won the tournament by defeating all three of their opponents in the two-day event. The Red Flash took second with a 2-1 tournament record.

 

Robert Morris’ Tawnya Storino was named the tournament MVP for her efforts. She dished out 35 assists against SFU.

 

Miller also pitched in with 14 digs, 1 block and 1 ace, while Buter had 1 ace, 8 digs and 2 blocks. Sophomore setter Rikki Myers (Noblesville, Ind. / Westfield) dished out 27 assists, and sophomore Lindsey Fox (Meadville, Pa. / Cochranton) added 3 kills and 6 blocks.

 

Buter and Miller were both named to the all-tournament team for the Red Flash.

 

SFU dropped to 3-11 overall, and will try to bounce back with a 7 p.m. contest on Thursday night at UMBC.
