Red Flash improve to 2-0 in the NEC
LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2007) – Don’t look now, but the Saint Francis University field hockey team is streaking. The Red Flash won their second game in a row and nailed down their second victory of the season – both firsts for the fledgling program – in a Northeast Conference game against Quinnipiac on Friday night at DeGol Field. The 3-1 win moves the Flash to 2-0 in the NEC and 2-9 overall.
Junior Belen Albanes (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) scored two goals for the second consecutive game, including the eventual game-winner mid-way through the second half on an assist by sophomore Allison Severage (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson).
Severage tallied a goal of her own late in the second half with an assist going to senior Leigh Ann Conroy (Walpole, Mass./Walpole).
Conroy and her fellow seniors – Kati Kenyon (Glenmont, N.Y./Niskayuna) and Annie Paccione (Red Hook, N.Y./Red Hook)– will take the field for the last time at DeGol Field on Sunday vs. Sacred Heart.
The Senior Day game will get underway at noon, following a pre-game ceremony recognizing the team’s three forth-year players.
