Red Flash Capture First Tournament Title for 2007 in Fall Finale

Littlestown, Pa. / Quail Valley Golf Course (October 20, 2007) – Saint Francis reflected their 2007 NEC Championship ways this weekend at the Mount Saint Mary’s Fall Invitational by capturing first place in a seven-team field.

Saint Francis earned the tournament victory by fending off Hofstra University and Long Island University by five strokes, carding a two-day team total of 662.

Senior Samantha Milosh (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) earned the honors of low medalist for the competition, inking a tournament best 156 (78-78) by shredding Quail Valley’s 6,202 yard, par-72 challenge.  Also maintaining Saint Francis’ first-place finish was sophomore Lisa Kocin (Parma, Ohio, Padua Franciscan), who tied for third place overall by shooting a 161 (76-85) for the Red Flash.

Caryn Doege (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) swatted 170 strokes (80-90) in 36 holes for 11th place overall.  Senior Stephanie Switzer (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) finalized her expedition by making a 175 (81-94) for 20th overall and freshman Kaitlin Hensal (Seville, Ohio/Wadsworth) finished tied for 31st with a 202 (104-98).

The Red Flash’s first-place finish finalizes their fall schedule and they will resume their 2008 season in the early spring.  The women’s team captured the NEC Championship last spring and hope that this win will keep their momentum strong once the green fairways peek their heads from the melting snow.
