Red Flash downs Sacred Heart in homecoming match
LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 3, 2007) – The Saint Francis University women’s volleyball team took down the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 3-1 (30-26, 29-31, 30-19, 30-22), on Saturday to run their record to 4-2 in the Northeast Conference. Freshman Lindsay Malloy (Gallitzin, Pa./Penn Cambria) led the way for the Red Flash with 20 kills.
Sophomore Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) and junior Keshia Gibbs (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) also turned in stellar performances firing 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
Freshman Christine Breisch (Edwardsburg, Mich./Edwardsburg) paved the way for the win defensively with 17 digs. Junior Kristen Buter (Bowie, Md./Bowie) came up with 14 digs and Miller registered 11 to round out SFU’s digs leaders.
Another rookie, Alexa Ebert (Titusville, Pa./Titusville), served up four of the team’s combined 13 aces in the victorious effort.
Saint Francis returns to action on Sunday to for its final home match of the season vs. Fairleigh Dickinson at 2 p.m.
