Bollinger earns academic all-district honors
LORETTO, Pa. (Feb. 7, 2008) – Saint Francis University senior Emily Bollinger (Westminster, Md./Westminster) has been named to ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-District II second team by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Thursday.
This is the first such honor for Bollinger, a double-major in English/communications and marketing at the university, who will graduate in May.
A leader in the classroom and on the court, the 6’2” forward totes an impressive 3.72 GPA and serves as a captain for her Red Flash squad.
Bollinger currently ranks third in the Northeast Conference in field goal percentage (.530) and has scored in double figures in nine games, including her last five.
Also named to the All-District II second team were: Sparkle Davis (West Virginia), Shanay Freeman (Fairleigh Dickinson), Maria Getty (Villanova), and Melanie Gibbons (La Salle).
A student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00 to be eligible for nomination to the All-District ballot. CoSIDA District II is comprised of Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
