Flash Burned on Spring Break, 23-3, Against Lehigh
West Palm Beach, Fla. – After the cancellation of Saint Francis’ first two games of the 2008 season (Longwood & Navy), the Red Flash trekked south to sunny Florida to take on the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at Lake Lytl Field for their first game after recuperating from injuries and other administrative issues early on. Unfortunately, the pleasant playing conditions did not translate to a pleasant score. The Red Flash were throttled by the Mountain Hawks, 23-3, in the opening of their spring campaign.
The Red Flash were led by freshman midfielder Meg Lamarche (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas), scoring her first two career goals as a collegiate. Junior Meghan Crosby (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) lit the board up for her fourth career marker for the Red Flash. Both Lamarche and Crosby provided the helpers on each other’s tallies.
Statistics for this game are not yet available but will be posted as soon as possible.
The Red Flash will make up their game against the Naval Academy on Tuesday, March 4 at 4:00pm. Saint Francis was originally scheduled as Navy’s first ever opponent at the Division I level back in late February. Since then, Navy has amassed a 3-0 record, totaling above 20 goals per match. Tuesday’s tilt at Jack Stephens Field will be SFU’s second game of the season. Following the trip back from Annapolis, Md., the Flash will host Niagara University at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 8 on DeGol Field for their first home game of 2008.
