Red Flash Have Record-Setting Performance at IC4A Championships
BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 10, 2008) – Junior Jorden Davis (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada / Loyola Catholic) broke two Saint Francis school records on his way to helping lead the Red Flash men’s indoor track & field team to its best finish ever at the 2008 IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championships, which were held Saturday and Sunday at Boston University.
Saint Francis took 14th place with 17 team points, besting the school’s 19th place finish in 2002.
Junior Will Velez (Staten Island, N.Y. / Benedictine) also set a school record, while senior James Bush (Baltimore, Md. / St. Francis Prep) recorded a personal best time.
Davis set the school record in the 200-meter dash during Saturday’s preliminaries with a time of 21.66 seconds. On Sunday, he finished fifth in the 200 finals with a time of 21.85. Bush recorded back-to-back personal bests in the same event. He crossed the line in 21.95 seconds in the preliminaries before going on to finish sixth in Sunday’s finals in 21.89 seconds.
Davis broke the Red Flash school record in the 400-meter dash preliminaries in 47.49 seconds, and went on to take third in the finals with a time of 47.67 seconds.
Velez continued Saint Francis’ success at the championships with a school-record jump of 6 feet, 9.5 inches in the high jump. His performance was good enough for a fifth place finish in the event.
