Flash tied for 12th after day one at George Washington Invitational
BETHANY BEACH, Del. (March 21, 2008) – The Saint Francis University men’s golf team teed off its first action of the spring season on Friday, finishing day one of the George Washington Invitational at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club in a three-way tie for 12th place.
Navy and Lehigh equaled the Flash, with all three teams carding a 318. The host Colonials hold the early lead having fired a 301 opening round to pace the 20-team field.
No individual results were available.
Friday’s competition was called due to darkness before all 20 teams could complete their 27-hole opening round. Those teams will then be inserted into the field, keep the same pairing and continue play.
The other teams have been re-paired and the pairings have been juggled in order to complete 27 holes on Saturday.
The tournament manager will make the decision by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow whether or not all teams will be able to complete 27 holes. If that’s the case, the tournament will become a 45-hole event.
