Flash men, women jump in standings in final day at W&M Invite

FULL RESULTS 

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 5, 2008) – The Saint Francis University men’s and women’s track and field teams each jumped several spots in the standings on the final day of the William and Mary Colonial Invitational.  The women finished in sixth place out of 20 teams with 38 points.  The men finished with the same number of points, but managed a seventh-place standing out of the field of 20.

Michigan State won on the women’s competition with 124 points and the host Tribe won the men’s meet with 101 points.

A 12th-place finish in the 4x200-meter relay highlighted the Red Flash women’s performances on Saturday, with the SFU contingent of Sarah Harmon, Jade Perry, Danielle Burton, and Quarrie Rayisha, wrapping up the event in 1:50.83.

Another relay squad - the 4x400-meter variety – earned a 22nd-place finish, thanks to strong efforts by Noelle Lyons, Perry, Burton, and Brittni Smallwood.

Second place honors captured by the men’s distance medley was the pinnacle of the day for the red and white as the team of Chris Behre, Jorden Davis, Jeremy Tice, and John Balouris nailed down the silver with a time of 10:03.12.

The 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays also contributed to Saint Francis’ point total.

The 4x400 team of James Bush, Behre, Ben Peacock, and Ian Butcher claimed fifth place with a time of 3:18.36 and the 4x100 reeled in eighth-place honors with a spirited 43.04-second run by Butcher, William Velez, Bush, and Davis.
