First Day of NEC Softball Tournament Washed Out

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (May 9, 2008) – The Saint Francis softball team has waited six years for a chance to play in the Northeast Conference Softball Tournament. The Red Flash will have to wait one more day as heavy rains postponed the first day of the tournament, which was scheduled to begin Friday on the campus of Long Island University.

First round action will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with top-seeded, and tournament-host, Long Island squaring off with fourth-seeded Wagner. Saint Francis will follow with its contest against No. 2 Robert Morris at 12:30 p.m. The double-elimination tournament’s championship game has been rescheduled for Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
