SFU Women’s Golf Signs One High School Senior To National Letter of Intent
LORETTO, Pa. (May 13, 2008) – Saint Francis University head women’s golf coach, Chris Cascino, announced the signing of one standout high school golfer on Tuesday afternoon.
Freedom High School senior Skylar Hay (Easton, Pa. / Freedom) signed a national letter of intent to compete for the tradition-strong Red Flash women’s golf program.
Hay is a native of Texas who relocated to the Lehigh Valley in 2005. She made a smooth transition to northern golf by winning the District XI championship under the direction of coach Wayne Marish in 2006. A 4.0 handicap and the 2006-07 co-MVP for the Patriots, Hay is a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to pursue a degree in Saint Francis’ nationally recognized Physical Therapy program while studying in Loretto.
“Skylar’s ability to adapt to northern golf and qualify for the PIAA state championship two years in a row impressed me,” said Cascino, who will enter his fourth year at Saint Francis in the fall. “She has a really nice swing, and she’s a good ball striker. Skylar has a very good work ethic, and wants to work hard to improve her game. She is very happy to be a part of Saint Franci’s physical therapy program. We’re very fortunate to have her, and we look forward to watching her progress during her collegiate career.”
The Red Flash have won two of the last three NEC Championships under Cascino’s watch, and the program has won seven of the last 10 altogether.
