Coach Bean Announces Addition of Kristen Healy to SFU Field Hockey Staff
Loretto, Pa. (Aug. 13, 2008) - Saint Francis field hockey head coach Stacey Bean announced that Kristen Healy has been appointed an assistant coach for the 2008 season. Healy comes to Loretto from the University of Maine in Orono.
“I am pleased to welcome Kristen to the Saint Francis field hockey family,” said Bean, who is in her first year at the helm of the Red Flash team. “Having competed at the Division I level at the University of Maine, Kristen is fully aware of the level of commitment and sacrifice that will be required by our student-athletes. Her experience and knowledge will help us continue to build the SFU Field Hockey program.”
While at Maine, Healy was a letterwinner for the Black Bears field hockey team from 2003-2007, and was a co-captain during her senior campaign. A defensive leader, she played in 58 career games with one goal and two assists. She received numerous accolades including ZAG/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, America East Academic Honor Roll, America East Second Team, UMaine Scholar Athlete Award and the Mary Snow Scholarship, among many others. Healy received a bachelor’s degree in Child Development & Family Relations in May 2008.
Prior to coming to Loretto, Healy worked as a counselor at the University of Maine summer field hockey camp and as a mentor/tutor for UMaine Academic Support.
