Red Flash Men’s Soccer Ties Lock Haven on Last Minute Goal

LORETTO, Pa. (Aug. 23, 2008) – Junior Omo Sumah (AccoKeek, Md./Loyola Blakefield) scored a goal with less than a second remaining to lift the Saint Francis men’s soccer team to a 1-1 tie with Lock Haven in both teams’ final exhibition tune-ups on Saturday at the Stokes Soccer Complex.

Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead early in the first half on a Paul Huckett goal.  The Red Flash outshot the Eagles 17-9, but were kept off the scoreboard by the solid play of Lock Haven goalkeeper William Trimble, who had eight saves.

The Red Flash had several quality opportunities to score on their 17 shots and eight corner kicks, but couldn’t find the back of the net.  As the play clock was counting to zero, freshman Kingsley McLeod (Rocky Mount, N.C./Rocky Mount) fed Sumah a pass inside the 18-yard box, where Sumah was able to find the far side of the net.

Saint Francis opens its season versus Michigan State at the Spartans’ annual tournament beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday.
