Saint Francis’ Flick Named Brine/NEC Rookie-of-the-Week
LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 2, 2008) – The Northeast Conference announced Tuesday that it has named Saint Francis women’s soccer player Traci Flick (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) the Brine/NEC Rookie-of-the-Week for the week of September 2.
Flick has already made a significant impact on the field for the Red Flash. In only her second collegiate game, the midfielder scored three goals on three shots in Friday’s win against Holy Cross. Her hat trick is the first in three years for an SFU player. The last Red Flash player to score a hat trick was Nicole Khanna. Khanna scored three goals on in a 7-0 win against Delaware State on Sept. 7, 2005.
Her endurance is proving to be just as good as her scoring touch. Flick saw 90 minutes of action against the Crusaders, and played the full 110 minutes in Sunday’s double overtime scoreless tie against Northeastern.
This is the first time in five years a Red Flash women’s soccer player has received the NEC Rookie-of-the-Week award. The last player to do so was Ashlie Knowles, who won the award on Sept. 15, 2003.
