Red Flash Field Hockey Shut Out at Drexel 7-0
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2008) – The Saint Francis field hockey team continues to look for its first win of the season after falling to Drexel 7-0 on Saturday in Philadelphia. The team, who falls to 3-0, is also looking for its first goal under first year head coach Stacey Bean.
The Red Flash return to Loretto for their home opener, when they host Bryant at 7 p.m. on September 13.
Drexel scored seven minutes into the game on a shot from Jen Cairone that got past Red flash goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip). Cairone scored again in the second half as well. Susan Ciufo, who scored on a penalty shot, also had two goals for the Dragons. Reifsteck had 17 saves on the day.
Rebecca Reiff (Farmindale, N.J./Wall), who had the lone shot in Friday’s game against Penn, had the team’s only shot on goal.
Junior Therese Nunnally (El Cajon, Calif./University of San Diego) and freshman Jayme Riccio (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) also had a shot each.
