Red Flash Field Hockey Shut Out by Radford 3-0
LORETTO, Pa. (Sept. 14, 2008) – The Saint Francis field hockey team was held scoreless by the visiting Radford Highlanders, who scored three goals on their way to victory on Sunday afternoon at DeGol Field.
The Red Flash will be back in action against Lehigh at 7 PM on September 17 in Bethlehem, Pa. They will return to DeGol to play host to Colgate at noon on Sept. 21.
Alex Wladich scored an unassisted goal of a rebound six minutes into the first half to put the Highlanders up 1-0. The stellar play of Red Flash goalkeeper Erin Reifsteck (Battle Creek, Mich./Saint Phillip) would prevent the Highlanders from scoring again in the first half.
Holly LoJacono scored less than 20 minutes into the second off a feed from teammate Courtney Poole. Stephanie McLamb had Radoford’s final tally with less than 7 minutes of play left in the game.
Reifsteck finished the game with 7 saves as the Highlanders outshot the Red Flash 15-5.
Senior forward Belen Albanes (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody) had 2 shots, one of those coming on goal, and took 6 corners for Saint Francis. Sophomore midfielder Jordan Beaston (Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry) and sophomore forward Mary Wright (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) each had a shot, while junior forward Allison Severage (Garwood, N.J./Arthur L. Anderson) had the team’s only other shot on goal.
