HAMILTON, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2008) – The Saint Francis men’s golf team fired an impressive team score of 305 on the second day of the Colgate Invitational to jump five spots and finish second in the 12-team field.

Freshman Adam Simpson (London, Ontario, Canada / Oakridge Secondary School) carded a 3-over-par 75 on the final day to finish in a tie for third place with a 75-75-150, three strokes off the pace. He was in ninth place after the first day of action.

Binghamton won the event with a 302-304-606, Bucknell (303-320-623) and Lehigh (309-314-623) tied for third and Ottawa finished fifth with a 314-313-627.

Junior Mike Magalski (Spring Grove, Pa. / Spring Grove) fired a 78-74-152 to jump 13 places in the standings and finish tied for sixth, freshman Joey Amelia (Chatham, Ontario, Canada / Chatham-Kent Secondary) carded a 79-78-157 to move up to a tie for 18th, freshman Dylan Holwell (Calgary, Alberta, Canada / The Edge School For Athletes) shot a 81-78-159 to take 20th, and freshman Ryan Coccagna (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg) fired a 86-81-167 to finish in 44th.

The Red Flash have this weekend off before returning to action Oct. 5-6 at Saint Bonaventure.
