MCLEOD PICKS UP NORTHEAST CONFERENCE BRINE/ROOKIE-OF-THE-WEEK ACCOLADES

LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2008) – Freshman forward Kingsley McLeod (Rocky Mount, N.C. / Rocky Mount) scored his first career game-winning goal last week against Howard, and was rewarded on Monday by being named the Brine/NEC Rookie-of-the-Week.

McLeod scored in the 99th minute in the first overtime to give the Red Flash their third consecutive victory, 1-0, over the Bison. Eight minutes into the extra session Daniel Moir (Christchurch, N.Z. / Shirley Boys) sent a corner kick to the far post. Freshman Andrew Pedigo (Plano, Texas / Plano) redirected the ball to McLeod, who headed the ball into the netting from four yards out for his second goal of the season. McLeod is now second on the team in scoring with two goals, one assist and five points.

After an 0-5-1 start to the season, Saint Francis has now won three straight matches, including two straight in overtime. The Red Flash have allowed no more than one goal in seven straight matches, including a pair of shutouts. Following a nine-day layoff, Saint Francis begins league play with matches at Monmouth on Friday and Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday.
