Red Flash Finish Strong Weekend With 3-2 Win at Wagner

 

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2008) – Senior Keshia Gibbs (Dumfries, Va. / Forest Park) had a team-high 14 kills and hit .312 to go with two blocks in leading the Saint Francis women’s volleyball team to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory at Wagner on Sunday afternoon.

 

Senior Kristin Buter (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) reached the 1,300 career kills mark with 11 to go with one ace, eight digs and four blocks in the 25-16, 16-25, 13-25, 25-18, 24-22 marathon. Buter now has 1,310 career kills, which is third on the program’s all-time list.

 

The Red Flash won both of their matches on the weekend to improve to 8-16 overall, and 2-1 in the Northeast Conference. They will return to action at 7 p.m. on Friday night with a non-conference tilt against West Virginia.

 

Junior Shirley Miller (Fairless Hills, Pa. / Pennsbury) tallied 10 kills and 15 digs, senior Kayla Greenwalt (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Widefield) had four kills and nine blocks, and junior Rikki Myers (Noblesville, Ind. / Westfield) dished out 36 assists.

 

Stephanie Robinett had a match-high 16 kills to pace the Seahawks.
