Red Flash Men 2nd, Women 6th at Bucknell
Lewisburg, Pa. (Jan. 17, 2009) – The Saint Francis men’s indoor track & field team took second place and the women took sixth place at the Bucknell Heptagonal at the Gerhard Fieldhouse in Lewisburg on Saturday.
William Velez (Staten Island, N.Y./Benedictine) picked up a second place finish for the Red Flash in the 55 meter dash in a time of 6.60.
Jorden Davis (Mississauga, Ontario/Loyola Catholic) took first in the 200 meter dash. His time of 22.28 beat teammate Velez, who came in second at 22.93.
Davis also took first in the 400 meter dash, crossing the line in 48.87, and Velez took first in the high jump (2.04, 6-08.25). He also won the long jump with a distance of 7.02 meters (23-00.50). Denis Eradiri (Sofia, Bulgaria/Vladislav Garamatik 73) was right behind him, taking second place in a distance of 6.93 meters (22-09.00).
Eradiri also won the triple jump, with a distance of 15.17 meters (49-09.25).
The 4 x 800 men’s medley relay team of Jeremy Tice, Lloyd Foster, Chris Behre and Ryan Dubois finished in second place with a time of 8:14.88.
Josh Hazen, the NEC/RoadRunner Field Athlete-of-the-Week took first in the shot put with a throw of 16.14. Hazen currently leads the NEC in his signature event.
Tice also picked up fifth place in the 1000 meter run, finishing in 2:34.29.
For the women, Christy Stally finished 8th in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 9.07.
Elizabeth DeMedal placed fifth in the women’s pole vault, clearing 3.35 meters (10-11.75). Teammate Skye Snakay finished 9th in the event (2.90, 9-06.25).
Christin Bridge won the shot put with a throw of 12.88 meters. Elise Pearce (Cherry Tree, Pa./Purchase Line) took 9th with a distance of 11.07 meters.
Kathryne Kendrick took second in the weight throw, with a throw of 15.87 meters. Pearce and Bridge picked up 5th and 6th in the event, respectively.
