 Red Flash’s Lilley Tabbed NEC’s Rookie-of-the-Week

LORETTO, Pa. (March 3, 2009) – Saint Francis women’s basketball player Brittany Lilley (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) has been honored as the Choice Hotels Northeast Conference Rookie-of-the-Week as announced by the league on Tuesday. This is the second time Lilley has claimed the honor.

The freshman guard went 7-of-13 from the field and shot 75 percent from the line to help the Red Flash defeat Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday. Lilley also chipped in with four boards, two assists and two steals against the Knights.

On Monday, she shot .857 percent and had 15 points as Saint Francis defeated Robert Morris for the first time in four years. Lilley again had four rebounds and two assists as well as a steal.

Lilley was also named the rookie-of-the-week for the week of Dec. 8, 2008 after putting up a career-high 23 points to lead the Red Flash to their first victory of the season at Youngstown State on December 3. She also had an 18 point effort that same week in the Flash’s first NEC victory over St. Francis NY. Lilley is fourth on the team with 303 total points this season and ranks 25th in NEC scoring with 10.5 points per game.

The Red Flash travel to Fairfield, Conn., on Saturday to take on the Robert Morris Colonials in the quarterfinals of the NEC Tournament. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. at the William H. Pitt Center on the campus of Sacred Heart.
