Saint Francis University is offering Summer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Academies for current sophomore and junior high school students. The Academies are week-long programs that are designed to help talented students experience STEM fields in action through exciting educational field and project-based activities.
Students have the opportunity to earn two college credits upon completion of the program. Participants will work in teams to complete a real world project and present their results. The academies are instructed by SFU faculty and the high school students are mentored by experienced Saint Francis University student mentors.
Selected students will be provided with room and board and all course supplies and materials valued at approximately $2000. Students with an interest in pursuing a career in a science or technical field are encouraged to attend.
The academies include: Science & the Art of Discovery: June 17-22, 2012, Environmental Engineering Design Academy: June 24-29, 2012, and Gaming Academy: July 8-13, 2012. Visit www.francis.edu/socSTEMAcademies.html for additional information and application.
