Lady Linus Blanketeers change name and prepare for upcoming blanket collection

February 18, 2014

The name has changed, but not the game. The Lady Linus Blanketeers, as the group has been known since 2006, recently changed its name to the Saint Francis University Community Blanketeers. In 2013, the Saint Francis University Linus Ladies blanketeer group donated 116 beautiful quilted, crocheted, knitted, and embroidered blankets to Project Linus, an organization that provides blankets to sick and needy children. In their seven years of operation they have donated more than 1,000 blankets to local children in need in Cambria County and surrounding areas. Each year the Linus Ladies Blanketeers focus on creating comfy, soft blankets for babies and young children. The Saint Francis University Community Blanketeers will continue this tradition.

This year’s blanket season will run from March 1 to May 1, and their blankets will go to cheer and comfort local babies and children in need. All blankets should be new and hand made in a size suitable for small hands (approximately 36 x 48 inches). While any materials are acceptable, washable fabrics and yarns are desirable as these blankets will get a lot of use and see many washings. Beginning March 1, there will be cribs in Scotus Hall and the Saint Francis University Library and Learning Commons waiting to be filled with loads of beautiful blankets.
