    Cap & Gown Information

    Visit the Herff-Jones website and order your cap and gown on-line. The deadline to order is March 4, 2016.

    Caps and gowns will be distributed in the JFK Lounge on the following dates:

    • April 11 from 12 p.m.—5 p.m.
    • April 12 from 11 a.m.—3 p.m.

    After the above distribution dates, caps and gowns may be picked up on the following dates:

    • Daily Monday—Friday 8 a.m.—3:30 p.m. (Mail Services in the JFK Center)
    • Saturday, May 7—8 a.m.—11:30 a.m. (Mail Services in the JFK Center)
    • Sunday, May 8—8:30 a.m.—2 p.m. (Stokes Athletics Center)

    The cost of your cap and gown is included in the graduation fee that will be billed to your student account by the Business Office.

    Other important dates

    • April 1 - Ticket sales begin for the Undergraduate Dinner and Graduate Reception - Visit http://my.francis.edu to place your order.
    • April 26 - President’s Awards Convocation - JFK Auditorium 7 p.m.
    • May 5 - Last Day to purchase Undergraduate Dinner and Graduate Reception tickets.  Credit card purchases will be accepted until the day of the event.  Visit http://my.francis.edu to reserve your tickets starting April 1.

    Graduation Announcements

    Personalized announcement packages may be purchased through Herff-Jones. Announcements will arrive personalized with your name, degree, major and commencement date information. The Saint Francis University Bookstore carries general announcement packets for students who prefer a simpler option.

    Parking

    Parking for Commencement is available in the commuter parking lot adjacent to the Stokes Athletics Center and in the parking lot adjacent to the John F. Kennedy Student Center. Those who have difficulty walking or who use a wheelchair may be dropped off near the main entrance. University police officers will be stationed near the Stokes Athletics Center to provide directions. If you have questions in the weeks before Commencement regarding special parking needs, please contact University Police at (814) 472-3360(814) 472-3360.

    Hotel Accommodations

    For those interested in arranging overnight accommodations in the local area, a list of area hotels and motels is available.

    Photography

    During the Commencement exercises, Roles Lifetouch Photography Studio will photograph each graduate as they receive their diploma. The photography studio will mail information about the handshake photos to parents prior to Commencement; proofs and order forms will be mailed after graduation.

    Photo opportunities will be available in the JFK Auditorium following the Graduate Ceremony, and on the Commencement stage in DeGol Arena following the Undergraduate ceremony. LifeTouch photographers will also be available to take posed pictures of graduates in the JFK Auditorium following the Graduate and Undergraduate ceremonies.

    7:30 p.m. The Senior Formal will take place on Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. In Liberty Hall at the U.S. Hotel Tavern, located at 401 S. Juniata St., Hollidaysburg,. This year’s theme will be Cinco de Mayo. Cost: Discounted tickets are $35.00 per person at the Graduation Fair. After the Graduation Fair, ticket prices increase to $37.00 per person. Seniors should RSVP by purchasing tickets no later than April 1, 2016, in the Center for Student Engagement. The formal may sell out, so don’t wait until the deadline to buy your ticket.

    4 pm Bell Tower Ceremony - Graduates should meet at the Bell Tower at 3:50 p.m. Following the bell ringing, graduates will process to the Stokes Athletics Center for the Baccalaureate Mass. The ceremony is weather permitting. Bell Tower, Campus Mall
    4:45 pm Baccalaureate Mass - An opportunity for the graduates, their friends and families, and faculty and staff to pray in thanksgiving for the opportunity to have come together to live and learn. All denominations are welcome to attend. No tickets are required. DeGol Arena
    Following Baccalaureate Mass The buffet dinner will be served in the Maurice Stokes Athletics Center Auxiliary Gym on Saturday, May 7, for undergraduate candidates, their families and friends. Students receive three (3) complimentary tickets (one ticket for the graduate and two additional tickets for family members). Beginning Friday, April 1, Undergraduate candidates can order tickets on line via http://my.francis.edu. All complimentary tickets and extra tickets purchased via credit card will be printable from the http://my.francis.edu page. All cash payment tickets will require cash payment at the Business Office before the tickets can be printed on my.francis.  Cash payment ticket reservations will be accepted until noon on Thursday, May 5. Credit card payments will be accepted until the day of the dinner.  More information will be posted on the Commencement page in the next few weeks.     9:45 am Graduate Commencement Procession begins Stokes Athletics Center
    10 am Graduate Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 8, in the DeGol Arena of the Maurice Stokes Athletics Center. The procession will begin at 9:45 a.m. and Commencement exercises begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are not necessary for the Graduate Commencement ceremony. There are no reserved seats for guests. Special seating arrangements will be made for the physically challenged on the main floor of the DeGol Arena. We ask that you restrict the number of guests seated on the floor to one or two people, as seating is limited. Other family members should sit in the regular audience seats.  Following the graduate ceremony, the DeGol Arena will be cleared to allow time to prepare for the Undergraduate Commencement.  No one will be permitted to remain in the arena between ceremonies.  Graduate candidates who wish to take photos after the ceremony may do so in the JFK Auditorium during the Graduate Reception.  LifeTouch photographers will also be available in the JFK Auditorium to take posed pictures of graduates.
