As a commuter, we know that your college experience is different from that of a resident student. Many of you have just graduated from high school and continue to have part time jobs or other responsibilities at home. Some of you are non-traditional students with families and/or full time employment. This does not mean that you are excluded from the experiences that SFU provides for students to participate in and enjoy.
The SFU experience is more than attending classes; Campus is more than a place to park your car each day. It is a community of individuals with different lifestyles, various needs, and many ideas about who they are and where they are going. YOU are a member of this community.
There are many supports available to students who do not live on campus. The Center for Student Engagement is available to offer assistance and resources to commuting students.
Located on the upper floor of the JFK Student Center, the Center for Student Engagement provides information about events on campus, plan programs which allow students to grow and become more connected at SFU, and offer advice and guidance to ALL students, whether commuter or residential. A big focus is to make sure commuters know what is going on around campus and how get involved in various events and clubs.
If you are in need of assistance and would like to speak with someone regarding your experience as a commuting student, please stop by and or make an appointment with Mr. Dom Peruso, Associate Dean of Student Life, or email at DPeruso@francis.edu.
As a commuter, it’s nice to find a quiet, comfortable space to relax between classes. Our campus provides multiple locations for you to enjoy some peace and quiet, or to meet up with friends.
Parking for Commuter students is a priority at SFU. In fact, there are exclusive Commuter spaces available in two locations on campus.
