Start Time: 4:00 p.m.

The Saint Francis Computer Science department will host a Cyberbullying Intervention and Prevention seminar on Monday, March 18, at 4:00 p.m. The seminar will feature guest speaker Tina Meier, executive director for Megan Meier Foundation, who will address the audience via Skype. Dr. Jim Lantzy, an established professional in computer security who is also a DiSepio professor of the practice in the Saint Francis Computer Science department, will moderate the event.

On October 16, 2006, Meier’s life took a devastating turn when her 13 year old daughter, Megan Meier, took her own life after being cyberbullied by her adult neighbor. In December of 2007, Meier founded the non-profit Megan Meier Foundation. Her efforts have changed the landscape of cyberbullying by introducing legislation, awareness, and positive change to communities.

K-12 teachers, students, parents, and guardians of all ages are encouraged to attend. The event is free and open to the public. The event will be held on campus at the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness, Room 213.
