April 30, 2013
Start Time: 8:00 am
Saint Francis University and the NAACP Johnstown Unit are sponsoring the sixth annual High School Diversity Summit about living and working effectively in a multi-cultural society. This year’s theme is “Leadership and Diversity” and will be held on Tuesday, April 30, on the Saint Francis campus in Loretto. The event is open to all high school administrators and student leaders in grades 9-11.
The summit will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will include morning and afternoon sessions. Chaz Kellem, manager of diversity initiatives for the Pittsburgh Pirates, will deliver the keynote “Leadership and Diversity”. Kellem leads by example, and through his many community contributions to organizations, helps make Pittsburgh a better place to work and live. He was born with a rare disorder that causes his bones to break easily, and has undergone more than ten operations and many broken bones. He does not dwell on the setbacks from the disorder, but instead carries his positive attitude and energy with him.
The second session will challenge participants on preconceived ideas and beliefs about multicultural issues.
The cost to attend the summit is $40 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. For questions, registration or other information contact the Saint Francis Counseling Center at 814-472-3211 or firstname.lastname@example.org
