Dr. Doug Bleggi has served as an English teacher, high school principal, superintendent of schools, adjunct professor at Wilkes University, and assistant professor of education at Saint Francis University. He earned his bachelor¹s degree in English from The Pennsylvania State University; his teaching certification from Saint Francis University; his M.Ed. from the University of Virginia; and his D.Ed. from Penn State University. Dr. Bleggi also completed post-graduate work at the University of North Carolina.
In 2009-2013 Dr. Belggi was granted a leave of absence to create a new Catholic High School in State College. As the principal/CEO at Saint Joseph¹s Catholic Academy, he was responsible for curriculum, personnel finance, marketing, building design and renovation, fund raising and capital gain, student services, athletics, and recruitment. Forty-five students entered the inaugural class; the most recent class numbered one hundred and five.
As the first principal/CEO in Saint Joseph's history, Dr. Bleggi was given the responsibility of creating a school that upholds a strong Catholic Christian tradition and offers a rigorous college prep curriculum in a safe and disciplined environment.
Dr. Bleggi returns from his leave of absence to teach Foundations, Secondary Methods, Educational Psychology, and Philosophy (The Ethics of Teaching). He previously taught at Child Development at Saint Francis and observed student teachers. Dr. Bleggi also teaches Educational Research and Statistics for the graduate program.
