Engineering Credits Required
Educational Approach and Curriculum
The educational approach at Saint Francis reflects our philosophy that a solid yet diverse academic base, critical thinking skills, a strong moral foundation and a love for lifelong learning are essential tools for success in today's world.
In addition to the course requirements for a selected major, all Saint Francis students take a base of 58 credits in our dynamic and innovative General Education Program. Diverse areas of study from philosophy, social issues and multiculturalism, to developmental courses for such skills as public speaking, writing and research help Saint Francis students learn to speak and write more effectively and think critically--essential characteristics of successful individuals entering the twenty-first century.

Depending upon the branch of engineering chosen for study, one or more additional classes may be required for admission to an engineering school. Consult the program coordinator for details. Pre-engineering students must maintain a 3.0 overall quality point average and obtain a faculty recommendation for transfer to Pennsylvania State or Washington University. Students transferring to the University of Pittsburgh or Clarkson University must have an overall 2.5 quality point average in those classes they intend to transfer and may transfer no classes in which their grades were below "C". Transfer requirements for other engineering schools vary and will be addressed on an individual basis.
