Inaugural William B. Furlong Upperclassman Scholarship awarded

April 8, 2014

The inaugural William B. Furlong Upperclassman Scholarship was awarded on Sunday, March 30, at The School of Arts & Letters Academic Recognition Program. The endowed scholarship is named in honor of William B. Furlong, long-time professor of English at Saint Francis, who died in 1986.

The scholarship is awarded to an English or communications upperclassman with an excellent academic and service record. Financial need is considered. The scholarship was presented by one of Dr. Furlong’s sons, Joseph. This year’s scholarship was presented to Danielle Deskevich from Johnstown, PA. Danielle is a junior English/secondary education and Spanish major. She is the daughter of David and Eileen Deskevich.
