    All applicants are responsible for submitting a complete application packet to the Graduate Education Office for consideration and admission to the Master of Eduation program.  This packet should include the following materials:

    • Completed and signed application for admission - MEd Application Form
    • Non-refundable application fee of $30.00, in the form of a check or money order made payable to Saint Francis University
    • Two (2) letters of professional recommendation - MEd Recommendation Form
    • A minimum undergraduate grade point averate of 3.0 is required. If candidate's GPA is <3.0, he or she may be accepted on a provisional basis while taking up to nine (9) credits. The student must obtain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the first nine credits to be admitted to the program. If these requirements are not met the student will not be admitted to the program.  
    • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate course work completed by the applicant must be sent directly from the college/university to the Graduate Education Department. (Copies from student will not be accepted.)

    If you were referred by a graduate of the Saint Francis University Master of Education Program, please complete the MEd Referral Form and submit along with your application. A gift will be sent to the person who referred you once your application has been processed.

    International Applicant Requirements

    All international applicants are responsible for submitting a complete application packet to the Graduate Education Office for consideration and admission to the Master of Education program. This packet should include the following materials:

    • Completed and signed application for admission
    • A non-refundable application fee of $30, in the form of a check or money order made payable to Saint Francis University.
    • Two (2) letters of recommendation, written in English, one professional and one personal which include information about English proficiency.
    • As essay, written in English, must be submitted addressing the topic of Why I Want to Obtain a Master of Education at Saint Francis University.
    • Official undergraduate transcripts must be submitted, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, the transcripts must be submitted with certified English translations (if applicable). The independent credentialing report needs to be completed by a NACES-member organization, and WES is recommended.
    • An interview in person or via Skype with the Graduate Education Director is required.
    • Applicant must complete Affidavit of Financial Support, International Clearance Form, and submit a copy of passport.
    • Minimum testing requirements include
      • TOEFL Internet-based test score: 75-80; paper-based: 550; computer-based: 213.
      • IELTS band score: 6.5
      • iTEP score: 4.0

    Note: International applicants who have received a baccalaureate or a graduate degree from a college/university/institution that English is the primary language of instruction are exempt from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement. Any applicant, who does not meet the English proficiency requirement, but, has a strong academic record, may be admitted to the University and will enroll in the University’s intensive English program, for appropriate course work, until suitable English proficiency is acquired.

    Upon acceptance to the Graduate Education program, international applicant must complete the I20 process through the University Admissions Office.

    Other Applicant Requirements

    School Principal applicants must also submit 

    • a copy of candidate's Instructional I or II certificate,
    • an essay discussing the candidate's philosophy of educational leadership,
    • proof of five complete years of professional school experience prior to applying for certification to the state.

    Special Education Supervisor applicants must also submit:

    • a copy of candidate's Special Education Instructional I or II certificate,
    • an essay discussing the candidate's philosophy of educational leadership,
    • proof of five complete years of professional school experience in special education, prior to applying for certification to the state.

    Reading Specialist applicants must also submit:

    • a copy of candidate's Instructional I or II certificate,
    • an essay discussing the Role of the Reading Specialist,
    • proof of five complete years of professional school experience prior to applying for certification to the state.

    Superintendent/IU Executive Director Letter of Eligibility applicants must also submit:

    • one (1) additional letter of professional recommendation from a seated Superintendent,
    • a copy of state issued Professional Administrative Certificate,
    • documentation of six years of educational experience and must currently be an acting administrator or supervisor,
    • proof of six years educational experience and three complete years as a practicing administrator prior to applying for certification from the state.
