The Saint Francis Military Fan Mail Campaign 2012 recently sent 10,550 cards, a record breaking total, to military personnel who are away from home during the holidays. This total makes Saint Francis the number one military card sending university in Pennsylvania and the number two college in the nation.

Since 2004, Saint Francis has sent a total of 44,700 cards to military personnel. The campaign is made possible through the generous donation of cards and postage from the campus community, American Greetings, Parkhurst Services, and the Basilica of St. Michael’s in Loretto. Saint Francis students, and local Girl Scout troops, businesses, and individuals have all signed cards. The cards will help make the holidays a little brighter for someone away from home and family over the holidays.

“Several people have received letters in response to their cards from service men and women expressing their appreciation for the holiday greeting and remembrance. Our entire campus community is grateful for our freedom and grateful for the men and women who work to keep us free,” said Barbara Sherry, director of retail services at Saint Francis and military fan mail organizer.
