David Dzurko (left) and Timothy Saylor (right), technology and engineering teachers at Windber Area High School, both received the ninth annual Dr. John Powers Outstanding Educator award in a ceremony at Saint Francis University on April 30. The University selected Dzurko and Saylor because of their dedication to the teaching profession; their enthusiasm for the study of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects; and the inspiration they provide to students.

Remarks were given by Reverend Gabriel Zeis, T.O.R., Saint Francis president; Mr. Glenn Gaye, Jr., Windber Area School District director of education; Ms. Allison Felix, Saint Francis’ Science Outreach Center director; and Jack Powers, son of the late Dr. Powers.
