We were thrilled to learn last week that our new Pope chose the name "Francis." The choice of his name is a popular conversation topic. We are proud of the connection to our University's patron, St. Francis, who made it his life's work to care for nature, the poor, and the disadvantaged. Pope Francis was inaugurated on Tuesday and, like St. Francis, echoed that statement when he pleaded, "Let us be protectors of creation, protectors of God's plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment."
