This group of teachers "reached higher" as they participated in Science Outreach Center's "2012 Headwaters to Estuaries" program.
Teachers from Bishop Carroll, Chestnut Ridge, Tussey Mountain, Hollidaysburg, Forest Hills, and Williamsburg participated. They visited the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center outside of DC to learn about their global climate change research relating to saltwater marshes as well as their educational outreach programs. The Headwaters to Estuaries program is federally funded through a NOAA Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) grant. In addition to participating in the two week summer watershed institute, the teachers will develop and implement curriculum in which students have the opportunity to solve problems relating to watersheds.
