I chose to become a Communications major because it is everywhere! There is no avoiding it. Everywhere you look you see ads, magazines, newspapers, or social media sites. I love learning about each media outlet and how Communications majors are shaping the future of each of them.
The Communications department presented me with the opportunities to work for Central PA Live, and then be hired on to continue my directing work for the show. Saint Francis has allowed me to use all resources available to create and transform my media talents for real world applications, and most importantly and they’ve fostered my crazy ideas along the way. Each professor has their strengths, and they’re all ready to share knowledge, wisdom, and experience with whoever comes their way.
SFU taught me to be responsible and take charge of what I wanted for myself out of life. The Communications Department offers students a variety of career opportunities that students will enjoy and will give them the chance to explore their interests. My faculty opened me up to endless opportunities and they were extremely helpful in guiding me in the right career direction. The department is very caring and looks to help any student reach their goals. As helpful as they are, they are also very laid back and personable. Whatever happens in my future, I can credit the SFU Communications Department for giving me the tools to be successful. The opportunities I’ve received are a direct result of the relationships I have built with my professors at Saint Francis.
Veronica completed an internship at the Altoona Mirror that led to a paid position with this central-Pennsylvania newspaper. An Honors student at Saint Francis, Veronica also served as layout editor of Saint Francis’ student newspaper, the Troubadour.
