Faculty members receive awards

Saint Francis University faculty members received awards for their outstanding service to the university and its students at the President’s Awards Convocation on April 23.

Mr. Curtis Kindel, assistant professor of physical therapy, was named co-recipient of the Saint Francis Honor Society Distinguished Faculty Award. He holds a bachelor of science in health science degree and a master of physical therapy degree from Saint Francis University. He is also a Ph.D. candidate in the department of kinesiology at Penn State University. Kindel has been an assistant professor of physical therapy at Saint Francis since 2007. In addition, he is also the advisor of the Physical Therapy Organization (PTO), advisor of Cru, and spiritual advisor for Alpha Phi Delta fraternity.

Dr. Stephen Baker, associate professor of psychology, was named a co-recipient of the Saint Francis Honor Society Distinguished Faculty Award and co-recipient of the Gerald & Helen Swatsworth Faculty Award. He holds a master of arts degree in psychological service from The Catholic University of America, a master of arts degree in psychology from the University of Houston and a doctorate of philosophy in developmental psychology from the University of Houston. Dr. Baker has been a member of the Saint Francis University faculty for seven years. He is also the Faculty Senate President and Co-chairperson of the Institutional Review Board at Saint Francis.

Dr. Ivan Mulligan, associate professor of physical therapy, was named a co-recipient of the Gerald & Helen Swatsworth Faculty Award. He holds bachelor of science degree in education with an emphasis in athletic training from California University of Pennsylvania, a master of physical therapy degree from Gannon University, and a doctor of science in sports physical therapy from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. Dr. Mulligan has been a faculty member at Saint Francis for six years. In addition, he is also the interim chair of the department of physical therapy, the director of the sports physical therapy residency program and the faculty coordinator of athletic health and wellness service at the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness.
