Biography
Dr. Lori Woods is an Associate Professor of History who specializes in medieval and early modern European history, the history of women, family and community, and the social history of medicine. She studied history and medieval studies in several different colleges in Canada, and has worked in historical archives overseas. She has been teaching at Saint Francis University since 2008, and now calls Pennsylvania her home. Her research interests include medieval town government, hospital development, and gender and charity. She is a contributing co-editor of a collection of essays, Worth and Repute: Valuing Gender in Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe: Essays in Honour of Barbara Todd, which explores women’s experiences from legal, medical and economic perspectives. Currently, she is working on a book manuscript which focuses on urban piety, gender issues and hospital development in late medieval Valencia
