STEAM Day 2024: A Tradition of Career Exploration Continues

Mitchell Jubas | 12/03/2024

Back in 1994, Saint Francis University students envisioned a way to ignite a passion for science and related disciplines among high school peers. This vision materialized as "Science Day," an engaging event where regional high school students visited campus for interactive, hands-on sessions covering a variety of topics. Over the years, the event has evolved into "STEAM Day," now celebrating discovery across science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Marking 31 Years of Impact

On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Saint Francis University hosted its 31st Annual STEAM Day, welcoming 28 high schools from across the region. The event saw the participation of 50 high school teachers and a vibrant turnout of 438 students.

This annual tradition offers high school students the chance to attend diverse presentations led by university students, faculty, alumni, and industry professionals. Participants dive into the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through engaging sessions, transitioning between topics each hour in a dynamic conference-like format. Students also enjoy a taste of campus life, including lunch in the university's facilities.

The event, sponsored by the School of STEAM at Saint Francis University, continues to inspire young minds, providing a gateway for exploration and a glimpse into future academic and career paths.
