Recruitment Philosophy, Policy and Procedures
Individuals who apply for employment at Saint Francis University are choosing to put themselves forward as potential members of the Saint Francis community. They are beginning to imagine what their future could hold should they work as partners for the advancement of the University’s mission in Catholic higher education. For these reasons, the University takes seriously the responsibility to articulate its mission and values in a clear manner for applicants who have been invited to campus to interview for a position.
The following process will occur after you have been selected for a position and before your first day of work:
- Receive a job offer letter listing the conditions of employment with the University
- Applicant will confirm acceptance of the job offer, indicate a start date and time and confirm the established work schedule
- The Human Resources department will distribute the required new hire forms (listed below) and benefit package information to the applicant.
- Confirm date/time/location of the "Welcome to SFU New Personnel Orientation" session and documents needed
- Return required new hire forms to the Human Resource department.

Departments that are looking at filling a position on campus will collaborate with the Human Resource department to recruit candidates and assist with the onboarding process once a candidate is selected.
Please note that orientation sessions will be scheduled in the Raymond Hall Conference Room. All newly hired employees will receive an invitation from the Human Resources office requesting their attendance at the session. Please note that orientation is mandatory for all new full and part time employees.

Educational Opportunities
Full-time Employees
Degree and non degree seeking employees may enroll in up to two undergraduate or graduate courses per semester at Saint Francis University with a full waiver of tuition. New full-time staff must have completed their introductory period or have been employed for ninety (90) calendar days following their full time hire date, which ever comes first, before they are eligible to enroll in any courses.
Part-time Employees
Employees working less than full-time who have completed one year of service and worked at least 1000 hours (in accordance with the matching contribution eligibility provision in the retirement plan) may enroll in one undergraduate, continuing education, or graduate course per semester at Saint Francis University on a space available basis without a tuition charge. An employee will be contacted by the benefits manager when he/she becomes eligible.
Retirees
University retirees may enroll in one graduate, undergraduate, or continuing education course on a space available basis per semester at Saint Francis University. (For this policy retirees are defined as those full-time employees retiring at a minimum age of 62 with 10 years of service or at any age with 25 years of service)

Tuition Benefits for Spouses and Dependent Children of Full-time Employees
Spouses and unmarried dependent children* of full-time employees, and siblings of Franciscans may enroll in undergraduate or continuing education courses at Saint Francis University.
Student Dependency Verification form
Tuition benefits begin the next semester following the completion of the following years of service:
Upon full time hire 50% tuition benefit After 2 years of service 75% tuition benefit After 3 years of service 100% tuition benefit Spousal discount will be given for a spouse enrolled in the graduate programs beginning Summer 2023 25% tuition benefit

(Free and low cost services open to all employees)
Examples of free and low cost services:
- On-site appointments to treat acute illness and injuries,
- Women's Health Services (on-site)
- Point of care testing (strep, UTI, blood sugar, etc.)
- Employee Assistance Programming through LifeSolutions with expanded support for issues such as caregiving, parenting, managing workplace pressure and traditional services such as depression, grief, sleep difficulties and more.
- On-site appointments with Board Certified Clinical Specialists in sports or orthopedic physical therapy.
