Biography
Dr. Mekeel joined the faculty at Saint Francis in fall 2021. A generalist in theatre, Dr. Mekeel brings to Saint Francis expertise in all facets of theatre. He has worked professionally as a director, lighting and scenic designer, production manager and technical director, master carpenter, and electrician. He is also a Certified Teacher of the Michael Chekhov Technique of Acting through the National Michael Chekhov Association. Dr. Mekeel regularly presents research from his rehearsal/production processes and teaching at regional and national conferences. His "traditional" research focuses on effigy as performance and on the appropriation by legitimate culture of avant-garde theatre.
