Events happening at Saint Francis University this week.

Maura (Koshute) Shearman, an OT alumna, identified a unique opportunity to involve our OT students and faculty in improving the functional mobility of her client, Nate, who lives in a rural area where accessible outpatient OT services for custom orthotic device fabrication are unavailable.

Since 1995, the Rural Outreach Chemistry for Kids (R.O.C.K.) program at Saint Francis University has had an enormous impact, with over 3,700 events reaching over 86,000 school children and community members.

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program hosted its annual Baby Day event to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world pediatric assessment. This unique opportunity allowed our students to observe and engage with children at various developmental stages, enhancing their understanding of motor skills and assessment techniques.

Saint Francis University has announced the election of four new members to its Board of Trustees: Fr. Zachary Burns, T.O.R. of Colleyville, TX; Wayne Dedrick, of Palm Coast, FL; Jonathan Gleason of Johnstown, PA of Mark Harabedian of Mendham, NJ.

Michaela Smith, a 2016 Saint Francis University BSN graduate, recently served as a volunteer nurse for a two-week rotation in September with Mercy Ships, bringing healing and hope to communities in Sierra Leone, Africa.

1968 Saint Francis College alumnus Frank Tummillo who was killed in the line of duty in 1972 during an undercover narcotics investigation was honored posthumously with the 2024 Assisi Award and a criminal justice scholarship in his name thanks to the fundraising efforts of his Alphi Phi Delta fraternity brothers.

The Dr. Wayne and Elizabeth Takacs Biology Department is Saint Francis University’s first named academic department, made possible by a generous gift from the Takacs family.

Saint Francis University announces the receipt of a $500,000 gift, the largest unrestricted annual fund gift from a living alumnus in its history.

4-year-old Ava’s weekly feeding treatments offer hands-on experience for OT students. Since fall 2022, she has been attending these feeding sessions as part of a hands-on, community-engaged lab with the students in the pediatrics course.
