Engineering Program Hosts Networking Event

The Saint Francis University Engineering Department hosted its’ 2nd Annual “Meet and Greet” networking event last Thursday to connect current engineering majors with successful engineering professionals.

At the event, students and faculty enjoyed a one-on-one opportunity to listen and learn about responsibilities, workflow and management from engineering professionals working in the field. Kelsea Green, Engineering Laboratory Manager and Instructor at SFU who organized the event this year says, “The event provided students with experience speaking professionally and networking in a casual atmosphere. It also gave the professionals a chance to get to know upcoming graduates that will soon be joining the workforce in an informal, social setting as opposed to a formal job fair setting. Some of the connections made on Thursday night may lead to future internships and job opportunities this summer.” Companies represented included Chevron, GeoTech Engineering, Inc., H.F. Lenz Company, Keystone Consultants, Inc., M3S Networking, Markosky Engineering Group, McLanahan Corporation, and Norfolk Southern. Forty-two engineering students from Freshmen to Seniors attended.

Saint Francis offers 4 degree options within the Engineering Program: General Engineering, Dual Degree 3+2 Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering. Full-scale engineering programs, complete with advanced labs, have traditionally been the domain of large research institutions.  A small liberal arts school with a robust engineering department is a unique find.
