Keeping Your Eyes on the Ball and Having a Clear Goal in Life

I believe that setting high goals will always give you something to strive for and work towards. In the long run, reaching these goals will become a habit, and will only allow you to continue to aim higher and accomplish things you previously might have perceived as unattainable.

Pablo Medina

Pablo Medina came to Saint Francis University from Mexico City, Mexico to play Division I Soccer and now is on the cusp of leaving it as a young investment banker executive with Bank of America – Merrill Lynch.  This amazing metamorphosis is best captured in Pablo’s own words:

My main focus coming to Saint Francis was to play soccer. However, throughout the years, and thanks to the guidance of my advisor and different professors along the way, I was able to discover an additional interest for a career in finance & entrepreneurship, as well as passion for excellence. One thing that I have realized during my four years at SFU is that a key to success is to continuously set earnest goals for yourself and constantly look to improve upon these. Whether it is in your sport, your professional career, or life in general, I believe that setting high goals will always give you something to strive for and work towards. In the long run, reaching these goals will become a habit, and will only allow you to continue to aim higher and accomplish things you previously might have perceived as unattainable.

While citing SFU's programs as some of the best in the country, Pablo reflects on the importance of the people at SFU:

I think SFU’s programs are on par with those of any top university in the country. With that said, I believe that the most valuable thing SFU has to offer is its people. Starting from the President of our university, to the professors, coaches, administrators and fellow classmates – people genuinely care about you and each other and take an interest in your professional and personal career. People at SFU will go out of their way to make sure you succeed in the classroom and, more importantly, for you to be prepared for life outside of college. Personally, SFU enabled me to explore different interests and allowed me to accomplish more than I thought was possible going into college.

Pablo was a standout soccer player on Saint Francis University Division I Men’s Soccer Team that experienced a great deal of success during his four years and as a team captain in his senior season.  He took that same drive for success and goal-setting from playing soccer and netted a number of significant accomplishments at Saint Francis University off the field. Some of them include:
