Obtain an FSA (Federal Student Aid) User ID
- Both you and your parent (if you are a dependent student) will need an FSA User ID to electronically sign your FASFA.
- It usually takes 2-4 business days for an account to register.

Complete the FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
- Both you and your parent (if you are a dependent student) will need to complete a FASFA.

Review State Grant Application Options
- To be considered for most state grants, you must fill out the FASFA and complete a state grant application.
- As an example, the filing deadline for Pennsylvania State Grant consideration is May 1st.
