Saint Francis University Friar Raises Over 100k for Charity

Saint Francis University is proud to announce that the Brother Shamus McGrenra Charity Bike Ride has raised $113,439 for local residents struggling with rural poverty. On September 14, 2020, Brother Shamus McGrenra, a 73-year-old, stage 4 colon cancer survivor and Franciscan Friar embarked on his 10th Annual #GoBroShamus Charity Bike Ride . Brother Shamus cycled nearly 400 miles following the Erie Canal, starting his journey in Buffalo, NY and concluded his ride in Albany, NY. All the money raised will be used to support the Dorothy Day Outreach Center at Saint Francis University. Donations

Congratulations to Saint Francis University sophomore, Matthew Berzonsky. The Environmental Engineering student won first place at Bucknell University's Virtual 2020 River Symposium undergraduate poster competition held last November. His authored work, entitled "Analyzing the Impact of Mine Drainage Residuals on Phosphorus Sequestration and Agricultural Production," was among dozens of presenters from regional universities. Congratulations to Shields School of Business students, Hunter Longenecker, Urska Medvesek and Yanessa Shabbick, on winning the 2020 America250 PA Direct Effect Innovation Challenge in the final state round. School of STEAM Completes 27th Annual STEAM Day

The 27th Annual STEAM day was held virtually on Tuesday, November 24, 2020. There were 409 high school students and 32 high school teachers from 21 schools who participated. The day featured 32 one-hour sessions, including three Keynote presentations, an Esports Rocket League Gaming competition, and an Ethics Debate Team competition.
